Established in 2016, the Globeleq Educational Trust is dedicated to promoting black economic empowerment and expanding educational opportunities in South Africa. Their mission is to break down barriers to education through financial assistance and mentorship, helping students achieve their academic goals and nurturing a new generation of South African leaders.
About the Globeleq Bursary – Fields Covered
The Globeleq Educational Trust invites students to apply for their 2025 bursary programme. This bursary is available for studies in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields.
Globeleq Bursary Selection Process
Once you submit your application, you’ll receive a confirmation email. If your application is unsuccessful, you’ll be notified. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview.
Eligibility Requirements for the Globeleq Bursary
To apply, you must meet these criteria:
- Be a South African citizen
- Be currently in Matric or have completed Matric
- Be studying or planning to study full-time in a STEM-related field (Higher Certificate, Diploma, Degrees, or equivalent NQF-rated qualification)
- Be enrolled or planning to enroll at a recognized and accredited higher education institution in South Africa
- Have an interest in renewable energy
- Be unemployed (not working full-time or part-time in 2025) and have not worked full-time before 2025

Required Documents
Be sure to include the following with your online application (all documents must be certified and less than 3 months old):
- ID document (certified copy)
- Matric term 2 report (if currently in Matric, with school stamp)
- Matric certificate (if completed Matric, certified copy)
- Latest/June 2024 official academic transcripts (for current students, certified copy)
- Proof of registration at university (official document from university)
- 2025 acceptance letter from an accredited institution
- Curriculum Vitae detailing your work experience and background (lack of experience won’t disadvantage your application)
- Statement explaining why you chose your field of study, your post-graduation plans, and how the bursary will benefit the provider (1-2 pages)
- Recommendation letter attesting to your character and/or academic performance (1 page, not from a family member or friend)
- Parents or guardians’ ID documents or death certificates (certified copy)
- Proof of household income (latest payslips if employed, affidavit if unemployed, SASSA grant if applicable)
- For students under 18: a signed consent form by your parent or legal guardian, and their ID documents (certified copies)
- If disabled: Department of Labour Employment Equity Act (EEA1) Form and a Doctor’s Letter
- If funded by another bursary/NSFAS: bursary agreement/letter/offer
Closing Dates for the Globeleq Bursary
Applications close on 12 December 2024, at 12:00 midday.
Late applications will not be accepted, so make sure to apply before the deadline.
