    How to Calculate Your APS

    1. Applicant Score (AS):
      • Determine the AS for the program you’re applying to, considering any specific subject requirements.
    2. Subject Calculations:
      • Calculate your AS using six subjects, excluding Life Orientation, with variations for those who studied different types of Mathematics.
    3. Score Adjustments:
      • For quintile 1 to 3 school applicants scoring 50% or higher in Life Orientation, add 7 points to the score out of 600.
    4. Program Eligibility:
      • Compare your AS and subject results to the program’s minimum requirements; if they fall short, explore other qualifying programs.

Here’s how to calculate the APS:

    • Applicant 1: With 7 NSC Grade 12 subjects, applying for a program requiring Life Science and Physical Science.
    • Applicant 2: Applying for the same program but with 8 Grade 12 subjects.
    • Applicant 3: Applying for the same program and coming from a quintile 1, 2, or 3 school.
