About the Traxtion Bursary Programme – Fields Covered
Traxtion invites disadvantaged female students to apply for the TraxWAGON bursary programme for the 2025 academic year.
Bursaries are available for National Diploma studies in the following fields:
- Boilermakers
- Diesel Mechanics
- Electrical Engineering
- Fitters and Turners
- Mechanical Engineering
The TraxWAGON bursary program is a pioneering initiative designed to promote diversity within the rail industry. It reflects Traxtion’s unwavering commitment to creating a future where people from all backgrounds have equal opportunities to thrive and make a difference in this vibrant sector.
Eligibility Requirements for the Traxtion Bursary
To apply, you need to meet these criteria:
- Be a South African citizen
- Be a female
- Be between 18 and 35 years old
- Be in financial need and unable to afford your studies
- Be currently in Matric or have completed Matric
- Be planning to study full-time towards a National Diploma in one of the specified fields
- Be accepted/enrolled/registered to study at a TVET College in South Africa, registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET)
- Have achieved a minimum average of 60% (C or D symbol) in your final Matric results
Preference will be given to:
- Students with an excellent academic record
- Students who are orphans and/or from child-headed families
- Students residing in areas where Traxtion has a footprint (North West, Free State, and Gauteng), though students from other areas can also apply

- ID document (certified copy)
- Matric latest results/certificate
- Full academic record (certified copy if currently studying)
- Proof of TVET College registration/acceptance (on letterhead)
- Proof of address
- Recommendation letter from a community leader, school principal, or lecturer, supporting your conduct in school/community
