    Siemens Aktiengesellschaft (Siemens AG), Europe’s largest industrial manufacturing company, was founded in 1847 by Werner von Siemens. This German conglomerate has main divisions in Energy, Industry, Infrastructure & Cities, and Healthcare. Siemens is a leader in electronics and electrical engineering, providing systems, solutions, and products in automation, digitalization, and electrification.

    Siemens Proprietary Limited, South Africa is a local subsidiary of Siemens AG, and has been present in Africa for over 150 years, with its history in South Africa dating back to 1860 in Cape Town.

    Headquartered in Munich and Berlin, Germany, Siemens employs over 372,000 people worldwide, including in Africa, North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Australia, and the Middle East.

    About the Siemens Bursary Programme – Fields Covered

    Siemens is inviting students to apply for their bursary programme for the 2025 academic year. Bursaries are available for these fields, identified as “scarce skills” qualifications:

    • Bachelor of Engineering Technology
    • Electrical Engineering (Heavy and Light Current) (BEng / BSc)
    • Electronic Engineering (BEng / BSc)
    • Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Mechatronics) (BEng)

    About the Siemens Bursary Programme – Service Contract & Selection

    Bursary recipients will be required to perform vacation work at Siemens.

    Applicants meeting the bursary criteria will be contacted by Siemens for a virtual video interview. Successful candidates will then be awarded a bursary. If you are not contacted, consider your application unsuccessful.

    Eligibility Requirements for the Siemens Bursary

    To apply, you must meet these criteria:

    • Be a South African citizen
    • Be between 18 and 25 years old
    • Be unemployed
    • Be currently in Matric (in 2024) or have completed Matric
    • Be planning to study full-time towards one of the listed qualifications in 2025
    • Be studying or accepted at a recognized and accredited tertiary institution in South Africa
    • Have achieved a minimum of level 5 for English in Matric
    • Have achieved a minimum of level 5 for Pure Mathematics in Matric
    • Have achieved a minimum of level 5 for Physical Science in Matric
    • Have a minimum overall average of 65% for the current year of study (Matric or tertiary)
    • Be passionate about Engineering and Technology
    • NOT be receiving any other funding (NSFAS/bursary/scholarship etc.)
    • Meet the registration requirements of your tertiary institution

    Preference will be given to students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

    • Full tertiary academic record, if currently studying (certified copy)
    • Curriculum Vitae
    • Motivational letter to support your application
