    Shell is a leading global energy and petrochemical company with operations across four key business areas: Integrated Gas, Upstream, New Energies, Downstream, and Projects and Technology.

    In South Africa, Shell operates in several main areas including Lubricants and Oils, Retail and Commercial Fuels, Manufacturing, Chemicals, and Upstream Exploration. Shell also boasts a vast network of service stations nationwide, providing a range of fuel products and convenient services, all with a friendly touch.

    Shell’s Commercial Fuel and Lubricants division offers products like illuminating paraffin, diesel, lubricants, heavy furnace fuels, and bitumen to sectors such as agriculture, construction, manufacturing, marine, mining, and general consumer markets.

    Together with BP, Shell jointly owns the Sapref refinery, one of the largest refineries in Africa.

    About the Shell Bursary Programme – Fields Covered

    Shell is inviting students to apply for their bursary programme for the 2025 academic year. This bursary aims to support South African students pursuing studies in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields related to the Energy Sector.

    Over the past few years, Shell has awarded bursaries to more than 200 deserving young South Africans, helping them fund their studies and obtain their tertiary qualifications.

    The bursary covers:

    • Tuition fees
    • Equipment (such as books)
    • Accommodation

    Additionally, the bursary offers:

    • Mentorship programmes
    • Networking opportunities
    • Tutoring
    • Career guidance workshops
    • Counseling support
    • Potential employment opportunities with Shell’s various partners and affiliates

    When awarding the bursary, Shell considers principles of diversity and inclusion.

    Eligibility Requirements for the Shell Bursary

    To apply, you must:

    • Be a South African citizen
    • Be from an underprivileged or previously disadvantaged background
    • Have completed Matric with a university acceptance pass
    • Have achieved a minimum of 75% in English, Mathematics, and Physical Science in Matric
    • Be studying or planning to study towards a qualification in one of the relevant fields
    • Be registered or accepted at a recognized and accredited tertiary institution in South Africa

    Submit clear copies of the following documents with your completed application form:

    • ID document (certified copy)
    • Clear head and shoulders picture
    • Matric certificate
    • Full academic record, including latest results (on institution’s letterhead)
    • Proof of registration or acceptance letter from an institution
