ABOUT THE SANLAM PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED
Sanlam invites students to apply for its bursary program for the academic year 2025.
The bursaries are awarded to undergraduate students who wish to pursue a qualification in Actuarial Science.
SANLAM PROGRAMME – EXPENSES COVERED & OTHER PERKS
The bursary covers the following costs: tuition, housing, book allowance, travelling allowance, and pocket money.

ELIGIBILITY FOR THE SANLAM BUSHARY
Before applying, applicants must meet the minimum requirements (please note: if you do not meet all of the requirements, your application will be rejected)
- You can be either a South African or a non-South African.
- You must currently be in Matric, and plan to study full-time for an Actuarial Science Qualification in 2024 . OR. you must be studying full-time for an Actuarial Science Qualification (in your first, second or third year of studies).
- Current undergraduates: You must show academic ability and the will to succeed
- Current Matric Students: You must have a minimum score of 90% in Mathematics and an average A symbol overall (final Matric results can be used as the determining factor).
- Matric Students: You must be excellent in Mathematical skills and have the ability to solve complex problems. You should also be able and willing to remain focused and disciplined during your training and studies.
- Priority will be given to South Africans of African, Coloured or Indian descent as well as other non-SA citizens based on merit.

- Motivational Letter for your application. (With answers to 5 questions: what is an actuary? Why do you want to study Actuarial Science?, Why you think you could become an actuary?, and why Sanlam would award you a scholarship. Also, your alternative career path, if you don’t become an accountant.
Current Matric Students:
- Grade 11 Final Results (Copy Only)
- Matric mid-year result (copy only).

- Curriculum Vitae with emphasis on academics, extramural activities, and leadership skills
- Motivational letter supporting your application. (With answers to 5 questions: what is an actuary? Why do you want to study the actuarial sciences?, why should Sanlam award you a scholarship and why are you not an actuary?)
