About the Fasken Scholarship Programme – Fields Covered
Fasken invites students to apply for their scholarship programme for the 2025 academic year. They will be awarding two scholarships in honor of respected former colleagues, Lundi Gadla and Ricci Schwab Lyons:
- Ricci Schwab Lyons Scholarship: This scholarship funds Law students.
- Lundi Gadla Scholarship: This scholarship funds students at Nelson Mandela University (NMU) in ANY field of study.
More About the Fasken Scholarship Programme
Ricci Schwab Lyons Scholarship:
- Named in memory of Ricci Schwab Lyons, a distinguished partner and Chief Operating Officer at Fasken in Johannesburg. This scholarship is awarded annually to a law student who embodies Ricci’s values and dedication to community outreach.
- The scholarship is renewable for the recipient’s subsequent year of study, provided all subjects are passed.
- Recipients are expected to accept an articles of clerkship position at Fasken upon graduation. If declined, the recipient must repay the full scholarship amount to the Firm.
Lundi Gadla Scholarship:
- Established in memory of colleague and friend Lundi Gadla, whose life was tragically cut short in February 2006. This scholarship honors his legacy.
Eligibility Requirements for the Fasken Scholarship
To apply, you must meet these criteria:
Ricci Schwab Lyons Scholarship:
- Be studying towards a Law qualification
- Be registered for your 2nd, 3rd, or penultimate year of study
- Have maintained a minimum average of 65% for all years of study completed
- Be willing to participate in vacation work programs offered by the Firm
- Demonstrate potential to become an effective attorney at Fasken
- Exhibit leadership skills, be self-motivated, and show an interest in community issues
Lundi Gadla Scholarship:
- Be studying at Nelson Mandela University (NMU)
- Be registered for your 2nd, 3rd, or final year of study
- Be in financial need for your studies
- Demonstrate leadership ability, motivation, and hard work
- Show an interest in community issues/projects
