    Barberton Mines, located in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa, is a subsidiary of Pan African Resources and is part of the Metal Ore Mining Industry. The Barberton Mines complex includes the Fairview Mine, Consort Mine, and Sheba Mine, all of which have been operating for over 100 years. These mines are known for producing high-grade gold with an excellent safety record.

    About the Barberton Mines Scholarship Programme – Fields Covered

    Barberton Mines is inviting students to apply for their Pre-Tertiary Development/High School Bursary programme for the 2025 academic year. Scholarships are available for studies at Hoërskool Barberton (in Mpumalanga) for students entering Grade 8 or 9 in 2025.

    More About the Barberton Mines Scholarship Programme – Expenses Covered & Selection

    The scholarship covers:

    • Enrolment at Hoërskool Barberton
    • School fees
    • Hostel fees (optional)
    • Full school uniform
    • Stationery
    • Toiletries for students residing in the hostel
    • Monthly stipend of R370 (from January to November)

    Students will be selected based on academic performance, financial needs, and historically disadvantaged backgrounds from Barberton/Emjindini and surrounding areas. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted by 17 January 2025. If you do not receive feedback by this date, please consider your application unsuccessful.

    Eligibility Requirements for the Barberton Mines Scholarship

    To apply, you must meet these criteria:

    • Be a South African citizen
    • Reside within the Barberton/Emjindini and surrounding areas in Mpumalanga province
    • Be entering Grade 8 or Grade 9 in 2025
    • Be keen to attend Hoërskool Barberton in Barberton, Mpumalanga
    • Have achieved a minimum overall average of 85% in the 2023 academic year
    • Have a total household income of less than R300,000 per annum
    • Be from a historically disadvantaged background

    How to Apply for the Barberton Mines Scholarship

    Eligible students can collect a copy of the application form at all primary and secondary/high schools in Barberton.

    Enter “busa.hlayiso.com” when asked how you heard about the Barberton Mines scholarship.

    Submit clear copies of the following documents with your completed application form:

    • ID document or birth certificate (certified copy)
    • Final 2024 academic results
    • Certificates of achievements issued by your school
    • Parents’ or guardians’ proof of household income (latest payslips or letter from employer if employed, affidavit if unemployed, latest financial statements if self-employed, proof of government grant if applicable)
    • Proof of residence

    Note: Applications submitted via fax or post will NOT be accepted.

    Closing Date

    27 December 2024 (at 12:00) – be sure to apply before this date to be considered.
