Paper Manufacturers Association of South Africa, founded in 1992 is known for its promotion of paper as an environmentally friendly and recyclable product for use for packaging, communications and other purposes.
PAMSA represents more than 90 percent of South Africa’s paper, packaging, and tissue makers. They are known as the “voice of the paper and pulp industry”.

Students can apply to the Bursary and Research Programme of PAMSA for the academic year 2025-2026.

PAMSA BURSARY – COVERAGE, CONTRACTS & SELETION
This bursary provides funding for two years of full time study. Students will be working on projects such as beneficiation of fibres from wood, recycling fibre or processing waste and resource efficiency.
The recipient of a bursary may be hired as an engineering trainee at a member company PAMSA.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview. If you do not receive any feedback on your application, please consider it unsuccessful.
Eligibility Requirements for the PAMSA Bursary
Before applying, applicants must meet the minimum requirements (please be aware that if you do not satisfy these criteria your application will be rejected):
- It is preferred that you are a South African national.
- The final year of your BEng/BSc Chemical Engineering study OR a completed BEng/BSc degree in Chemical Engineering is required
- Your studies must be completed in five years or less
- In 2025, you must plan to study towards a Master’s in Chemical Engineering.
- Studying at an accredited and recognised university in South Africa is required
- Your final-year average must be at least 60%.
