ABOUT TETA & WMU SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED
The Transport Education and Training Authority invites candidates to apply for scholarships funding for the academic year 2024/2025.
The scholarship is awarded to study towards a Master of Science in Maritime Affairs at the World Maritime University in Sweden (WMU), Malmo. South Africans working in the maritime sector are eligible to apply for this fully-funded scholarship.

Eligibility requirements for the TETA & WMU Scholarship
Before applying, applicants must meet the minimum requirements (please be aware that if you do not meet all of the requirements your application will not be considered).
- You must be a South African Citizen
- Academically, you must be accepted by WMU
- You must currently be employed
- You must have worked for the same employer at least 12 months.
- Minimum 3 years experience in the maritime industry in South Africa
- Your employer must consent to your participation in the program and allow you to return to employment after the completion of the programme
- Priority will be given to women candidates and middle managers
How to Apply for the TETA & WMU Scholarship

Please submit clear copies of all supporting documents with your application.
- Please attach your matriculation certificate to the completed WMU admission application.
- Document d’identification (certified copy).
- If available, passport (certified copy).
- If passport is still not available, you can apply for one (certified copy).
- TETA Motivational Statement ( Available here).
- You will need a letter of support from your employer confirming you can take part in the program and that you are allowed to resume work once it is completed (sabbatical leave or unpaid leaves could be considered).
