Admission Requirements
To be considered for a Bachelor’s degree program, applicants must meet the following minimum admission requirements:
- Qualifications:
- Possess a National Senior Certificate (NSC), Independent Examinations Board (IEB), or South African Comprehensive Assessment Institute (SACAI) subjects.
- Achievement Levels:
- Attain the levels of achievement outlined in the admissions guide, along with a Bachelor’s degree pass.
Please note that meeting these minimum criteria does not ensure admission, as the university has a limited number of places for first-year undergraduates, which are allocated based on the availability of spaces, academic results, and other relevant entry requirements.
Admission Point Score (APS) – Wits
The Admission Point Score (APS) at Wits University is calculated based on the following criteria:
- English Requirement:
- English must be taken as either Home Language or First Additional Language.
- Mathematics Requirement:
- Mathematics is mandatory for all numerate programs in the faculties of Commerce, Law and Management, Engineering and the Built Environment, Science, and most programs within the Health Sciences Faculty.
- Mathematical Literacy:
- This subject is considered for degrees in LLB, Education, and Humanities, with the exception of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
- APS Calculation:
- The APS is determined by the best seven subjects, including Life Orientation. It’s important to note that faculty-specific subjects must be factored into this calculation.
- Further Studies Subjects:
- These subjects are also included in the APS calculation.
Remember, each faculty may have additional specific requirements, and meeting the minimum APS does not guarantee admission due to limited space and competitive selection processes.
